Ski Press World Inc. - SIA Day 2 - Index

top news
Hans Saari, who died in a fall in France in 2001, was an
adventure-seeking ski mountaineer who loved to write
about his travels and constantly sought a deeper meaning
in his expeditions. The Hans Saari Memorial Fund (HSMF)
has launched the Exploration Grant Program,
which encourages the development
of skills and pursuit of objectives consistent
with Saari’s approach to skiing and travel
in the mountains.
“The Has Saari Memorial Fund is happy
to be at this year’s SIA show to announce
the launch of the Ski Exploration Grant,”
said Drew Seessel, HSMF president. “The
grants support innovative ski exploration
projects with a focus on the documentation
of the expedition through photography,
fi lm and other creative media. The
Fund would like to thank The North Face
and Powder magazine for their support
and partnership in this venture.”
The deadline for grant applications is
March 1, 2008, and all materials can be
found at hansfund.org.

Debbie
GETS HER PHONE BACK
Debbie walks into the ladies room.
Deborah McGuigan of Neck Warmers
Galore walks into the ladies room
and leaves her cell phone there. At
lunch — “OHMYGOD, I’ve lost my
phone!”
Runs back to L.R. No phone. Calls
phone. No answer.
Texts phone. Says, “I just want my
phone back. My children need me.
Reward.” Leaves her business partner
Michelle’s number.
Michelle’s phone rings. “Meet me on the highway,
and you’ll get the phone back.”
Michelle’s from New York. She’s not meeting nobody
on no highway. She persuades phone guy to meet
her in the parking lot. Then she grabs Ed Wray of SIA
and tells him the story.
Ed rounds up some SIA security guards. They’re
ex-New York City cops. They think they’re back in
New York City.
Guy pulls into parking lot in a Lincoln Continental
with tinted windows. He’s looking for Debbie.
Instead, he’s surrounded by big guys in uniform. Big
guys say, “Hand over the phone, punk.”
