Q&A
WITH BILL MAROLT
While US Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA)
President Bill Marolt is busy breaking ground on the
association’s new $23-million Center of Excellence
in Park City, Utah, he’s fi nding time to attend this
year’s SIA to meet with suppliers, support athletes
and attend awards ceremonies. We caught up with
him en route.
WHY LEAVE ALL THAT
GREAT SNOW IN PARK CITY?
We’re coming to be part of the Doc DesRoches
Awards and meet with our partners who use USSA as
part of their marketing efforts. Some of our skiers are
also receiving the Hall of Fame Awards on Thursday,
and we’ll also be meeting with RSN.
HOW’S SIA FIT IN?
SIA has long been a major force in our sport, creating
opportunities for manufacturers, wholesalers and
retailers to promote and grow snow sports. It’s a great
organization that’s doing wonders for our industry.
HOW’S THE CENTER
FOR EXCELLENCE DOING?
It’s on track and fi nally coming to life. The building is
coming out of the ground as we speak and it’s going
to make a great new national headquarters used by
everyone from athletes to clubs. — EB
sports retailers — it allows them to maintain affordable
insurance while reducing the number and severity of lawsuits.”
Horizon also has a new product-liability program
for manufacturers. — EB
